This one-of-a-kind graphic tee was designed by the learners of Jameyana Primary School + designer Rob Trostle.  JAMEYANA PRIMARY SCHOOL 
Named after a chief’s daughter, Jameyana has 350 learners and 13 educators. More than 20% of the children are orphans, and raising HIV / Aids awareness is challenging in the face of stigma. Over 60% of the children live in children-run households.

Founding Partner and Creative Director of Golden Arm . Rob received his MFA! in graphic Design from The Yale School of Art. Prior to founding Golden Arm, he worked for 15 years independently and with agencies including Mother, Anomaly and BBDO specializing in Branding and Visual Identity Systems for a range of clients. He recently rebranded Cole Haan which is launching in the Summer 2014. Prior to that, he was working with P&G New Brand Creation group innovating across the personal care and consumer goods categories in addition to developing new categories to meet marketplace demands.

artist’s note
It is an amazing challenge to take inspirations of students from Jameyana School and attempt to create something with the potential to unite a team and hopefully a community. After being given the drawings from the VC+ Workshop and other drawings the students created, it became clear that this visual would need to communicate and give form to the strength and intensity of a shark, the speed and determination of a cheetah, the guidance of the stars, and the power of a bolt of lightning. From the shark, I took the teeth and lined the edge of the diamond shape drawing on the ferocity of a shark attacking. From the cheetah, I took the head to lead swiftly. Three stars provide guidance from above while the lightning bolts under foot provide power from below. 

It is my hope that I can return inspiration to the students as they confront opponents on the field, and face the challenges of their day to day life. And, represent for them the courage and the confidence to say, as one student did on his sketch, “We are not afraid. Bring It.”
